The Federation of Nepali Journalists is a common and umbrella organization of Nepali journalists, which has been continuously playing a role in protecting, promoting the journalism sector and ensuring the professional rights and interests of journalists. According to the federal structure, the organization of the Federation is organized at three levels: central, provincial and district. Among them, the provincial committee is a new structure formed with the implementation of the federal system. In this context, the founding working committee of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Bagmati Provincial Committee (then Provincial No. 3 Committee) was formed on 22nd Baisakh 2075.
Since its establishment, the Federation has been playing a leading role in protecting press freedom, freedom of expression, labor rights of journalists, professional security and the dignity of journalism. The activities of the Federation are not limited to the interests of journalists, but are also directly linked to the protection of democracy, good governance, civil rights and national interests.
In particular, the Bagmati Provincial Committee has been institutionally advancing programs for the professional development of journalism, creation of a media-friendly environment and capacity building of journalists at the provincial level. As per the federation’s statute, the provincial committee has been continuously playing an active role in protecting the interests of working journalists and the media sector, developing capacity, creating pressure for policy reforms, and promoting quality journalism.
नेपाल पत्रकार महासंघ नेपाली पत्रकारहरूको साझा तथा छाता संस्था हो, जसले पत्रकारिता क्षेत्रको संरक्षण, प्रवर्द्धन र पत्रकारहरूको पेशागत हकहित सुनिश्चित गर्न निरन्तर भूमिका निर्वाह गर्दै आएको छ। संघीय संरचनाअनुसार महासंघको संगठन केन्द्रीय, प्रदेश र जिल्ला गरी तीन तहमा व्यवस्थित छ। तीमध्ये प्रदेश समिति संघीय व्यवस्थाको कार्यान्वयनसँगै गठन भएको नयाँ संरचना हो। यसैक्रममा नेपाल पत्रकार महासंघ बागमती प्रदेश समिति (तत्कालीन प्रदेश नं. ३ समिति) को संस्थापक कार्यसमिति २०७५ वैशाख २२ गते गठन भएको थियो।
स्थापनाकालदेखि नै महासंघले प्रेस स्वतन्त्रता, अभिव्यक्ति स्वतन्त्रता, पत्रकारहरूको श्रम अधिकार, पेशागत सुरक्षा तथा पत्रकारिताको मर्यादा संरक्षणका लागि अग्रणी भूमिका निर्वाह गर्दै आएको छ। महासंघका गतिविधि पत्रकारहरूको हितमा मात्र सीमित नभई लोकतन्त्र, सुशासन, नागरिक अधिकार तथा राष्ट्रिय हितको संरक्षणसँग पनि प्रत्यक्ष रूपमा जोडिएका छन्।
विशेषगरी बागमती प्रदेश समितिले प्रदेशस्तरमा पत्रकारिताको व्यावसायिक विकास, सञ्चारमैत्री वातावरण निर्माण तथा पत्रकारहरूको क्षमता अभिवृद्धिका कार्यक्रमलाई संस्थागत रूपमा अघि बढाउँदै आएको छ। महासंघको विधानअनुसार प्रदेश समितिले श्रमजीवी पत्रकार तथा सञ्चार क्षेत्रको हित संरक्षण, क्षमता विकास, नीतिगत सुधारका लागि दबाब सिर्जना तथा गुणस्तरीय पत्रकारिताको प्रवर्द्धनमा निरन्तर सक्रिय भूमिका निर्वाह गर्दै आएको छ।
